Dr.
Van Tassell & Staff
Practice Philosophy
Each child is unique with
individual characteristics, talents, and behaviors that define their
personalities. We understand and appreciate these characteristics
and realize that they allow each child to respond differently to
their environment.
We are advocates for children and have only their best interests at
heart. It is an awesome privilege and responsibility to assume the
professional care for the oral health needs of children. We are
honored to be entrusted with the care of your child and will treat
them in the same manner we would wish our own children to be
treated.
The role we will play in your child’s health involves a partnership
between us, you (the guardian), and the child. You can expect a
professional and fun atmosphere when visiting our office and will be
encouraged to be involved with your child’s oral hygiene.
We enjoy watching children grow and become comfortable and confident
in a dental setting. We are dedicated to making visits to the
dentist comfortable and positive for your child. Our staff is very
gentle and specially trained to work with children and help them
feel relaxed in the dental setting.
We will involve you in the decisions regarding treatment for your
child and commit to fully inform you of the possible treatments and
outcomes of each option, moving forward only when fully understood
and agreed upon by you.
As your child develops the necessary habits for a healthy mouth
while they are young, it will benefit their overall health and self
esteem the rest of their life. We believe that when a child leaves
our office with a positive experience feeling good about what they
have accomplished, it will build their self image and that
confidence will carry over to other settings in their life. Thank
you for allowing us the opportunity to be involved with the growth
and development of your child.
Prevention
At Pediatric
Dentistry of the Rockies our emphasis with each child is prevention.
We would much rather prevent dental decay than treat it. To help
toddlers get a good start, and to comply with the recommendations of
the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry that each child be seen
by age 1, we offer complimentary dental exams to children under the
age of two. This is part of our infant
dental care program.
In addition to this, Dr. Keith speaks regularly to
expecting first time mothers at local birthing classes to educate
new parents how to care for the oral health of their babies.

Keith
A. Van Tassell, D.D.S.
Dr. Keith (as his patients know him) loves working with kids. He was
born in California and grew up in some small towns in Utah and
Idaho. He graduated from Weber State University in 2000 and entered
dental school that same year at Virginia Commonwealth University
School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Keith graduated Magna
Cum Laude in 2004 and was elected into the OKU dental honor society
which is reserved for the top 10% of graduating dentists in the
nation. He was also awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate
of Merit for outstanding academic achievements. After dental school,
Dr. Keith attended the University of Nevada School of Medicine for
a two year pediatric dental residency where he served as chief
resident his final year.
Dr
Keith is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. He dedicates himself
to providing the best dental care possible for his patients,
insuring that they have a positive and fun experience while learning
to care for their own oral health.
Dr. Keith enjoys spending time with his family,
being outdoors, running, and playing just about any sport.
He and his wife have four children (three
daughters and a son). They moved to Ft. Collins in August 2006 to
